Kaossilator 2S by Korg

music production hardware

The Kaossilator 2S is a dynamic phrase synthesizer by Korg, and another one of the successors of the famous Kaossilator (just as the Kaossilator 2). Back in 2007, the original version launched with great success. This one, in contrast, is a palm-size synthesizer that anyone can virtually play at any place, due to its size, and at anytime because it has battery as a source of power.

Kaossilator 2S: Features

This little bad boy can produce drum and synth sounds in a wide range of genres. Now it includes the addition of expanded loop recording and the new integration with Ableton Live. This means that now you can export your creations to Ableton to polish them and add them to a song. The capabilities of the Kaossilator 2S go beyond just a simple handheld synth. For example, you can use its internal mic to record vocals, guitars, and other audio sources and use them as loops.

The Kaossilator 2S has a great OEL display for you to visualize what’s going on. Moreover, it’ll provide a companion for the touch slider for ease of use. The device has a micro SD card to save your data and a small built-in speaker and mic. The uniqueness of this interface glows when you start arranging melodies and phrases by only stroking or tapping the touchpad. Furthermore, it’s sensible to the placement and positioning of your fingers. You can add effects and modulations to make it even more exciting. This little device is entertaining but powerful at the same time. With its flexibility you’ll start doing great sounding performances and tonal changes within minutes.

In this interface, Korg’s synth tech has 150 built-in sounds that cover a vast array of musical styles. The PCM sound generation can provide you with drum sounds that are super realistic. Similarly, it offers loop patterns. In short, you’ll be in for a treat. Additionally, you can overdubb many times by adding layer upon layer with ease. It doesn’t matter if you’re not a phrase or key pro: it will sound musically appropriate. The fabulous addition of Ableton Live integration makes this little interface much more productive and music production capable.
