The SoundField by RØDE NT-SF1 is an unbeatable ambisonic mic that captures broadcast quality 360° encompass sound (with tallness) in A-Format on four partitioned tracks. It’s the primary joint venture between the spearheading ambisonic brand SoundField, which concocted the first commercial of these microphones, and RØDE Mics. The NT-SF1 employs four RØDE TF-45C ½” real condenser cardioid microphone capsules organized in a tetrahedral cluster. The purpose is to record the complete round sound field. Each sound, each heading, is superb. Made in-house at Sydney, the TF-45C resists less than one micron in RØDE’s state-of-the-art fabrication facilities. The result is a capsule with breathtaking clarity, sonic virtue, and uncommonly low noise.

NT-SF1: Features

If you’re making surround sound for video recreations, sports broadcasts, highlight movies, or Virtual Reality content, the NT-SF1 is for you. Culminated for all surround sound recording, it records in A-Format. Moreover, you can effectively change it to B-Format. Plus, you can control it in any direction in post-production. Additionally, you can use the free SoundField Plugin included. In other words, you can be the designer of the soundscape. You can change the mic’s directivity, position, and complete rotation. As another example, you can make a full 7.1.4 encompass blend. Similarly, make a completely head-tracked 360-degree soundscape for immersive video. Whether recording opera, an overwhelm, or a highlight film, the NT-SF1 offers supreme quality and adaptability.

The SBR Plugin has all standard surround-sound set-ups with Dolby Atmos up to 7.1.4. Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo, Reaper, and Logic uphold it. They do so in VST, AU or AAX groups, all with RØDE’s amazing ease-of-use. The NT-SF1 mic kit comes in a full unit with a custom suspension shockmount which is fantastic. Furthermore, it has a blimp-style windshield and a hairy wind cover. It’s all dispatched in a wonderful shipping box. Its frequency range is 20Hz – 20kHz and output impedance is 63Ω.
