The award-winning Royer R-121 is Royer’s lead amplifier. R-121 is the world’s first to include a re-engineered lace receiver. Its innovative design reintroduced lace mics to engineers around the world. Gone is the huge, overwhelming, and delicate “classic” approach to lace mouthpieces. The R-121 is a modern heading.
The Royer R-121 is one of the classic mouthpieces of the 21st century
The R-121 provides the warm and normal sound that experienced engineers have long sought in lace mics. However, its compact, light-weight, tall yield and tough-as-nails bundle innovates the way this works. On its 10+ years on the market, the Royer R-121’s has been sold by the thousands. Additionally, it works very well following electric guitar and brass. Recording Magazine described the innovative design as “one of the classic mouthpieces of the 21st century.”
Like many lace mics, the R-121 contains a figure-8 design. This gives a yield level comparable to an energetic mic, and a warm, practical tone and level recurrence reaction. However, the R-121 builds upon all of this to stand apart from the crowd. It uses a mix of cutting edge and old-school, hand-build development procedures. The result is an accessible and user-friendly lace mic that can withstand the most arduous conditions. Static from electric guitars, brass interference, drums – you name it, the R-121 provides a fidelity that has to be heard to be believed.
The R-121’s exclusive balanced lace transducer is the first of its kind. It moves the lace component closer to the front side of the receiver. This packaging gives the lace more room to move inside the main field while keeping up full recurrence reaction in SPL recordings. It’s a fundamental part piece of the charm of all Royer R-series mouthpieces.
