Korg‘s microKEY Air is a Bluetooth MIDI Keyboard and controller available in 25 / 37 / 49 / 61 configurations. With it, you can connect wirelessly to an iPad, iPhone, Mac, or Windows. And you do so with its Bluetooth smart low energy MIDI connectivity. Similarly, you can connect it to music apps. For example, there are the Korg Gadget, Module, and Garage Band. All these include every MIDI-capable music production software on your computer, with high stability and low latency. In addition, the battery life on this keyboard spans to over a month of operation. (That is, considering one hour of use per day.) Moreover, you can connect it via USB cable because it’s bus-powered with one single cable.
microKEY Air: Compact and Powerful
The microKEY Air is compact, yet powerful, and user friendly. It has been designed to easily play chords by choosing between all its key configuration. In other words, it suits your playing style and preferences. With the Korg Module and the microKEY, you can set a great performance set on the go with great sound quality. Also, you can connect a pedal to enhance your performance. Notice, however, that this feature is only available for the 37, 49 and 61 key models. Regardless, it gives you the possibility to assign switch jack to connect a damper pedal. On the 25-key model, there is a sustain button function that replicates the pedal. The microKEY Air 37, 49, and 61 models include a pitch bend and modulation wheel. On the 25-key you’ll find a joystick that controls pitch bend and modulation, and an arpeggiator to let loose during your performance.
A Note on the Systems
The operating requirements for wireless connection on Mac computers are to have Bluetooth 4.0 or later, as well as the installation of OS X 10.10 Yosemite or later. For MacBooks, you’ll need a laptop that is early 2015 or later. In case of the MacBook Air, the year should be mid 2011 or later. If you have a MacBook Pro, make sure it is mid 2012 or later. It’s the same for the iMac. In contrast, for the Mac Pro, make sure it is 2013 or later for it to work properly. On Windows, the computer will have to support Bluetooth 4.0 and at least have Windows 8.1 or later. If you’d like to connect the microKEY Air by USB, just make sure your Mac has the OS 10.8 Mountain Lion (or later). For Windows, make sure it’s at least 7 SP1 or later 32/64 bit.
